Okay, let me start by saying that I am a US citizen (and Mexican resident) from the US Midwest. I’ve been enjoying Cabo since the early 90s. In all my experiences in Cabo I’ve seen very little trouble and usually it’s a drunk American if anything at all. I have never felt unsafe, and actually feel safer here than in most US cities.
There have been some posts on social media about the safety of Los Cabos. Nearly all those posts were created by people that don’t live here or spend time here and have no idea what’s going on. They are simply repeating old and non-existent “fake news”. There is nearly 0 credibility or truth to those posts. Simply fear mongering repeated lies to get more clicks and followers.
I have found nearly all of the citizens of Cabo to be extremely warm, friendly and respectful. The biggest reason why I love it here.
That being said, there are common sense precautions that everyone should take, especially when traveling.
Simple stuff-
Keep your door locked.
Don’t carry loads of cash or multiple credit cards ( keep it simple).
Don’t leave your purse in the shopping cart in the grocery store or Walmart.
Don’t buy drugs (FYI most are fake).
Don’t sell drugs.
Another tip when interacting. Most of the locals here are religious and respectful. Refrain from swearing and heated conversations. 40% of the people here are from the US and Canada and those are here to have a good time and get away from politics. Save that for another time. No Bad Days!
The geography lesson- We are all American’s. That’s right, people from the US, Canada and Mexico are ALL American.
